By Abdulfatai Abdulsalami, Sokoto.

With less than two weeks to the handing over of power to the democratically elected incoming APC administration in the state, Sokoto State governor -elect Ahmed Aliyu has appealed to people of the state to intensify prayers for the success of the new government.

The governor elect made the plea in a statement signed by his media aide Abubakar Bawa and made available to Money Central in Sokoto.

Aliyu said the call became imperative in view of the significance of prayers to the success of any administration.

“As a new government we surely need your fervent prayers considering the bulky nature of the job before us”

“So don’t forget to pray fervently for us to succeed, because the task ahead may be herculean but with your prayers we will surely surmount any likely obstacle, ” he said.

The governor elect further reminded people of the state of his 9 point agenda aimed at improving the lots of the citizenry.

The 9 point agenda according to him is designed to transform the State through the execution of people oriented projects across it’s length and breadth.

He added that, the incoming administration would also touch the lives of rural dwellers through human development initiatives.

According to him a massive skill acquisition programme would be introduced to train the teeming unemployed youths on various trades as part of measures to check idleness, redundancy and restiveness among the youths.

“This is one area that the outgoing administration has neglected which has contributed immensely to the rising poverty level in the state.

“If you have been following the annual poverty index being released by the National Bureau for Statistics, you will see that Sokoto has for sometimes now been rated as the most poverty stricken State in the country”

“This is unacceptable and we will change the narrative through the introduction of massive skills acquisition programme as well financial support to our small and medium entrepreneurs to boost the economy.”

“I’m sure the failure of the present administration in this aspect must have contributed immensely to the current state of insecurity bedeviling our dear state”

“Once a government neglects it’s youths leaving them at the mercy of the society, the consequences become enormous and difficult to handle ,” he stated

The governor- elect therefore appealed to people of the state to include the new administration in their prayers for it to deliver on its campaign promises.
