Kaduna business mogul, Mallam Mahdi Shehu, has said that Nigeria is at a critical juncture, adding that the nation do not need a learner to lead the country beyond 2023, but someone with experience like Atiku Abubakar.
Mahdi said, among all contending candidates for the presidential race Atiku is the most experienced politicians that can move the country forward.
Mahdi, whiile speaking at a one day National Conference organized by the Atiku Solidarity Forum (ASF) in Kaduna at the weekend, also alleged that the presidential flag bearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu is planning to move the Federal Capital Territory to Lagos if elected as president.
On Tinibu’s educational background, the business mogul said: “I came across INECs register and I noticed that the space for his primary and secondary school was blank except for his university which he filled, is he (Tinubu) trying to tell us that he did not undergo primary and secondary school, when the minimum qualification to contest for any political position is secondary school certificate.”
He also alleged that 60 per cent of the infrastructural development of Lagos State was as a result of the status of Lagos as a colony and being the capital city of Nigeria then.
According to Mahdi, 80 per cent of the educational facilities in Lagos were done by late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
While giving background history of the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) of Lagos state, Mahdi disclosed that Buba Marwa as a military governor before he handed over to Tinubu was generating N14. 35B as revenue to Lagos State, while Tinubu raised the revenue to N84B, adding that the subsequents governors raised the IGR to N264B, N134B respectively and presently Lagos is generating N940B.
” If they are going to use the present administration’s success story to campaign, are they going to use insecurity, corruption, high rate of poverty, poor economy, strike in the education sector, or collapsed businesses to campaign to Nigerians, he asked.
Earlier, the special guest of honour, Hajiya Titi Abubakar who was represented by Alhaji Abdulrazaq Garba explained that every facet of our existence and unity as a nation is being threatened by mysterious and wicked forces which has led to heightened insecurity, dilapidated health facilities and institutions, coupled with brain drain in the health sector and a camatose educational sector.
“These are symptoms of bad leadership and cluelessness at the highest level of governance whose impact to the society cannot be over emphasized.
“This is the time for all citizens of Nigeria to make the critical decision as we have tried those who specialized in packaging themselves with lies and photographs. We have also heard of those who wield fake data and speak good English with no record of providing solutions to our problems,” Garba explained.
