The Secretary to the government of Plateau state Prof Danladi Atu has said the by-election been conducted in the state was peaceful, and urged electoral to remain peaceful.
The Plateau state government Chief scribe stated this Saturday in Jos, shortly after casting his vote. According to him, several polling units visited, were peaceful.
Also commenting on the elections, the Senator representing Plateau North Sen Istifanus Gyang, also noted that the election were peaceful.
However, Sen Gyang revealed that there were insufficient supply of some Electoral materials in some polling units he visited; but said conduct of the polls commence timely.
Meanwhile, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress APC in the ongoing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency Bye-election Joseph Abbey Aku, decried low turnout of electorates.
The APC candidate appealed to Voters across the constituency who are yet to cast their votes should excise their franchise.
Similarly, a legislator representing Riyom state Constituency Hon Timothy Dantong, also complained of the voter apathy at the places hr had visited.
“I’m disappointed with the turnout of electorates, it seems people are losing confidence in our democracy; though this might be due to the cancelation of election results here in Jos North during the 2019 general election.” Dantong alleged.
Mr. Abbey had in an interview with Journalists after casting his vote said however that, he was satisfied with the arrangements put in place by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and other stakeholders.
Also speaking another State Assembly Legislator in Plateau state, Esther Dusu, said was satisfied with the new process of voting, where the accreditations and voting in done synonymously.
“This time around the process put in place by INEC is fast, no more long queue, because accreditations and voting is done at the same time.”
According to her casting of vote during election is the only right Constituent’s can complain and ensure they elect political office holders to account.
