Uba Emerges Benue PDP Governorship Flag Bearer

The Speaker of the Benue state House of assembly, Mr Titus Uba has emerged victorious in Thursday’s Governorship Primaries held in Makurdi, the Benue state capital.

Announcing the result, the Returning Officer for the exercise, Mr Bode Ojomo said, Mr Titus Uba polled 731 votes to defeat his closest rival, the deputy governor, Engr Benson Abounu who scored 81 delegates.

Mr announced that Mr Dennis Ityavyar, a former commissioner for Education had 2 votes with Dr Paul Angya 1 vote, Terkaa Ucha 1 vote and Engr Ben Akaaka scoring no vote respectively.

The leader of the party, governor Samuel Ortom expressed satisfaction with the conduct of delegates, describing the conduct as free and fair.

The deputy governor, Engr Abounu in his reaction, said he will be governor of Benue state one day and commended the party leadership for the chance to serve in the administration.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Titus Uba said with the victory, he will have to brace up for the challenges ahead and called on the rival aspirants to close ranks with him as there is no victor.
