According to Calciomercato.com, Sportmediaset and AS.com, Milan can afford his current €5m-a-year salary thanks to the ‘Growth decree’ that would allow the Diavoli to save 50% on the player’s gross wages.
However, Tuttosport claims that the player will be looking for more money, perhaps in the region of €7m per season and it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri would afford as much. Talks between the two parties are ongoing and Paolo Maldini can rely on his excellent rapport with Real Madrid directors.
According to the report, the Merengues value Asensio at €25-30m, but the Rossoneri are negotiating a lower fee given that the player’s contract runs out in the summer of 2023. An online report claims that Real Madrid have offered Asensio a new contract, but the player won’t decide on his future before the end of the campaign.
