Barcelona are demanding €20 million from potential buyers to sell Dutch forward Memphis Depay in the summer transfer window.

Memphis Depay’s future continued to be shrouded in uncertainty, with Barcelona slapping a €20 million price tag on him.

Memphis Depay must be a frustrated man after ending the 2021/22 season as the club’s top scorer and yet finding himself on the transfer list at Camp Nou. The Dutch international was not at his best throughout the campaign but managed to find the back of the net more often than any other Barcelona player.

The 28-year-old forward scored 13 goals from 38 games across all competitions, but inconsistency affected him, like any other Barcelona player. And with Depay’s contract running out in twelve months, the Catalan giants are weighing up the prospect of cashing in on him in the summer transfer window.

Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona had initiated contract renewal talks with Depay. But the Blaugrana will only follow through with negotiations if a suitor does not present an attractive offer to prise the former Manchester United forward away from Camp Nou in the summer transfer window.

Depay could move to the Premier League as Arsenal, West Ham United and Newcastle United are keen on signing him. Also, several Serie A clubs have shown interest in securing his services. But no club has been serious enough to follow up with a concrete offer, leaving Barcelona in a spot of bother.

Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez, sees Memphis Depay as a crucial member of his first-team squad. And with Ousmane Dembele’s future continuing to be up in the air, Barcelona might have to keep hold of Depay. But the Catalan giants are happy to cash in on the player if a suitor presents an offer of around €20 million.
