Benjamin Mendy Acquitted of One Rape Charge after Jury Views ‘Consensual and Enthusiastic’ Sex Tape

Benjamin Mendy, the Manchester City footballer who has been accused of eight rapes, one sexual assault and one attempted rape, has been acquitted of one of the rape charges for which he was on trial at Chester Crown Court in England.

During the trial, the jury viewed a sex video in which one of the alleged victims, who claimed in her statement to police that she had been raped, had “consensual and enthusiastic sex” with Louis Saha MatturieMendy‘s friend and alleged accomplice.

Benjamin Mendy, the Manchester City footballer who has been accused of eight rapes, one sexual assault and one attempted rape, has been acquitted of one of the rape charges for which he was on trial at Chester Crown Court in England.

During the trial, the jury viewed a sex video in which one of the alleged victims, who claimed in her statement to police that she had been raped, had “consensual and enthusiastic sex” with Louis Saha MatturieMendy‘s friend and alleged accomplice.

Following the viewing of the video, and after the prosecution were unable to present further incriminating evidence, Mendy was acquitted of one count of rape and Matturie of two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

Matturie could not help but cry when the presiding judge at Chester Crown Court returned the not guilty verdict.

The sentence Mendy could face may range from five to 20 years in prison, although he could face a possible life sentence.

In May 2022, Mendy pleaded not guilty to the nine counts of sexual offences against him.
