BREAKING: Manchester United set to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hanging onto his position as Manchester United manager by the skin of his teeth this evening following this afternoon’s 4-1 defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road.

United suffered their fifth defeat in their last seven Premier League matches against the Hornets, leaving Solskjaer on the cusp of being shown the exit door at Old Trafford.

Watford, who had only won once at home this season in the league prior to this afternoon’s triumph, got the job done thanks to goals from Josh King, Ismaila Sarr, who had earlier missed two penalties, the second of which was a forced retake, Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis sealed the points and a memorable victory for Claudio Ranieri’s side.

United, after finding themselves two goals down at half-time, did threaten a comeback just five minutes into the second half through substitute Donny van de Beek, but Harry Maguire’s dismissal 19 minutes later put pay to any hopes of salvaging a point.

United are now eighth in the Premier League table, 12 points behind league-leaders Chelsea and six points shy of the top-four.

Solskjaer’s has seemingly reached the point of no return and the players are understood to be expecting his sacking.
