Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt beat Scottish side Rangers 5-4 on penalties to win their first UEFA Europa League Cup in 42 years after a 1-1 draw at the end of extra time.
Colombian striker Rafael Borre scored the winning penalty for Frankfurt in the shoot-out after Rangers’ Aaron Ramsey had earlier seen his kick saved by Kevin Trapp.
Borre had cancelled out Joe Aribo’s opener in normal time and no more goals were added in the extra period before Eintracht won their first European trophy since the 1980 UEFA Cup.

Aribo whipped past the upright from 25 yards shortly after the midway point of the first half, while Filip Kostic dragged wide after running almost the entire length of the pitch.
Rangers looked the more threatening side as the first half wore on, with Trapp tipping over John Lundstram’s looping header and Ryan Jack lashing over from a promising position before the interval.

Eintracht Frankfurt scored in all 13 of their UEFA Europa League games this season. Since the rebrand of the competition in 2009, they’re just the second side to score in every single game from the group stages to the final after Chelsea in 2018-19.
