The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to announce Portuguese-born coach, Jose Peseiro, as Super Eagles Technical Adviser.

Moneycentral learnt that Jose Peseiro will earn a whopping sum of $50,000 monthly salary, among other benefits tied to his contract.

Peseiro, 61, beats the other four contenders to emerge as top favourites for the Super Eagles coaching job.

According to a close source, the likes of Laurent Blanc and Ernesto Valverde could not be considered due to their high salary demand.

Source also revealed that things took a different turn when Jose Peseiro decided to lower his salary making him the cheapest applicant for the job.

Sports Minister, Sunday Dare had kicked against Jose Peseiro’s appointment after the minister insisted on having two Nigerian assistants after the former Venezuelan gaffer opted to bring two foreign assistants.

“The minister objected to Jose Peseiro’s demand to bring two foreign assistants after NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, demonstrated his preference for the Portuguese coach. But he is currently leading the list as a likely choice after he accepted NFF $50, 000 monthly package,” a close source said.

The Sports Minister looks to have given the nod for Paseiro’s appointment after NFF appointed Salisu Yusuf and Finidi George as Super Eagles’ first and second assistants respectively.
