Amaju Pinnick, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has hinted that Nigeria may co-host the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Benin Republic.

Pinnick said this on Tuesday while addressing journalists in Lagos.

Pinnick disclosed that CAF is likely to withdraw the hosting right of the 2025 AFCON from Guinea and Nigeria stands a better chance of hosting the tournament.

“We are putting a bid together for a co-hosting the 2025 AFCON with the Benin Republic.

“The Minister of Sports has given his endorsement on the bidding.

“It is high time Nigeria hosted an international tournament because there are many advantages attached to hosting such competitions, Pinnick said.

“Many countries are bidding for the 2025 AFCON, but we are confident of getting the nod from CAF.

” We are working with the ministry of sports to ensure that Nigeria gets the hosting right.”
