WAFCON 2022: Super Falcons’ Ohale, Ajibade Make Group Stage CAF Best XI

Super Falcons duo of Osinachi Ohale and Rasheedat Ajibade have made the list of CAF Best XI of the group stage of 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

CAF released the Best XI of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations following the completion of the group stage with a good sprinkling of African countries included in the tournament’s top performers.

Notable to note that top-class players from seven African countries made the list of the CAF Best XI as selected by members of CAF’s Technical Study Group (TSG) after the first round.

The TSG is comprised of Clementine Toure (Cote d’Ivoire head coach), Radia Fertoul (Algeria head coach), Jacqui Shipanga (Namibia Technical Director), Shilene Booysen (South Sudan head coach), Mercy Tagoe (Ghana head coach) and Amani Boukare (Tunisia U20 head coach and senior team assistant coach).

South Africa goalkeeper, Andile Dlamini, who has been selected as the tournament’s leading goalkeeper, with a defence anchored by Nigeria’s Super Falcons defender, Osinachi Ohale and Zambia’s Lushomo Mweemba. Tunisia’s Samia Aouni and Morocco’s Zineb Redouan completed the defence.

Morocco’s inspirational captain, Ghizlane Chebbak, the leading goal scorer at the tournament with three goals to date with South African captain, Jane Refiloe make up a formidable midfield combination.

Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade with Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout provides plenty of firepower down the flanks.

Botswana’s Refilwe Tholakele gets the nod for the striker’s spot with the impressive attacking qualities of Zambia’s Grace Chanda made a formidable tournament Best XI.

These players will play a vital role as their countries look to secure a spot at FIFA Women’s World Cup in their quarterfinal fixtures of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
