NNPP Candidate, PDP LG Excos, Others Join APC In Sokoto

Barely ten days to the commencement of electioneering campaign ahead of 2023 general elections across the country, the rave of defections ravaging political parties in Sokoto State has hit the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP,) House of Assembly candidate in the State.

According to a press statement signed by Bashar Abubakar, special assistant on new media to APC leader in Sokoto state, Aliyu Wamakko, the defection also include some leaders of the party as well as ruling party in the state, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Goronyo local government who all dumped their former party for the APC.

The statement said the defectors were received by the APC Gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, alongside his entourage, who promised them equal treatment with other members of the party

“NNPP candidate for the seat of sokoto state House of Assembly in Goronyo local government, Hon. Maniru Malami, along his party chairman, all local government executives and chairmen of the 11 Wards of the area have joined the All Progressives Congress.

“Those that decamped to APC include: Financial Secretary of PDP in the local government Alh. Hamza ‘Yardole, chairman, Forum of the Ward chairmen in the area, Alh.Amadu Dan kansila and former councilor of Rimawa ward, Alh. Habibu Shehu Rimawa as well as PDP stalwart in the area, Alh Hamisu Ya’u Isah Mai Alewa among others”.

Giving the statistics of the numbers of people who defect to APC, the chairman of the party in Goronyo local government, Alh Kabiru Sarkin Fulani explained that the defectors were from the following wards.

Giyawa,1,350, Goronyo ward 2,190 , Rimawa ward 850 members, Birjingo 1,100 members and Kojiyo ward has 600.

The chairman added that Gorau-Takakume ward 680 members joined APC, Sabon Garin Dole ward 600 members, Shinaka 570 while at Boyekai ward a total of 620 members left the party.

Other wards include Kwakwazo ward with 525 members,while Kagara ward has 715 members.
