FG Moves To Generate More Revenue From Lottery, As Industry Worth N2 Trillion

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the blockage of leakages in the Nigerian lottery and gaming industry and boost its revenue to N100 billion.

“The government was also working to acquire a Central Monitory System ( CMS ) for maximum regulation to curb leakages in the industry,” the Executive Secretary of National Lottery Trust Fund ( NLTF ), Bello Maigari

, has revealed.

Maigari who disclosed this in Abuja during a press briefing, also said that the betting and gaming industry worth two trillion naira.

According to him, there are roughly 60 million Nigerians aged between 18 and 40 are actively involved betting, saying that with huge number of people involved in betting, the government generated less than N1 billion from the industry.

” Lottery and gaming businesses are flourishing across the country, the Executive Secretary said.

While speaking, Maigari noted that betting flatform is in the remoted part of the country, this is just as he said that lottery and gaming have gone far and wide in the country.

Maigari who frowned at the poor generated revenue from the industry, explained that the return to the coffers of the government is nothing to write home about.
