The Commissioner for Ministry of Works and Transport, Engr Jude Shachia has given assurance that the on going Ikyov Utange Mbagwaza Mbagba Lessel road project measuring 55km at distance in Ushongo local government would be completed before the end of Governor Ortom’s Administration.
The Commissioner who stated this on Wednesday at Akeghior in Ushongo local government when he visited the site to assess the level of work done so far on the project, said Governor Samuel has released another trenched of money for continuation of the project and urged the contractor, Enerco Nig. Ltd to return to site
He said Governor Ortom is poised to bringing to an end the suffering of people of the area as occasioned by poor access road which is why he has released more money for the contractor to resume work with a directive to him to visit the site for an on the spot assessments.
According to him, on completion, the road would provide a huge relief and boost economic activities in the affected communities and sued for cooperation by all stakeholders.
The Commissioner who acknowledged the cost implications on the road as it would have to construct three bridges across Ikpajov and Dula streams, expressed satisfactions on quality of work done so far even as he pledged to keep tab on the contractor for timely completion according to specifications.
Speaking, the Resident Engineer, Engr. Bem Ishima said, as an eye of the Ministry of Works on the project, he would ensured money paid to the contractor is properly used in executing the road project which is to be built to surface dressing double layer.
Some members of the affected communities who came out to identify with the team on inspection including; Terzungwe Achir, Iordelamen Asemave, Mama Deve Kir and Ieren Ikyuu all expressed happiness as work will soon resume on the site.
They added that they were grateful to God and Governor Ortom for finding them worthy to benefit from what they described as ‘people oriented’ administration, pledging to cooperate with the contractor to deliver on the mandate.
It will be recall that two major roads within Makurdi metropolis, Bambam and Akehe awarded by the Ortom administration are at the verge of completion.
