National Ginger Association of Nigeria (NGAN), has partnered the Federal Government and NAFOS Agro Industries Ltd on the establishment of a Ginger packaging house.
The partnership aimed at providing Ginger storage facilities and the use of Agro-Tech solutions as a component in farm management services.
The president of NGAN, Squadron Leader Nuhu Daudu (retd) disclosed this during an interactive session with the media in Kaduna on Monday, where he explained further that the partnership also aimed at strengthening food security and community engagement across the agricultural value chain.
Reading from the prepared speech of the NAFOS’s CEO, Dr. Nicholas Igwe, the president of NGAN noted that there is a scepter haunting the Nigerian Ginger value chain, which according to him is the scepter of the Fungi attack.
Squadron Leader Daudu however, averred that the Fungi has greatly affected primary production of Ginger across the Southern Kaduna region and other neighboring states in the just concluded farming year.
He said further that to tackle the menace, NAFOS in partnership with the Presidency through the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on ‘Community Engagement’, Northwest is determined to ensure that activities across the various streams within the Agricultural Value Chain are standardised.
“The partnership gears towards fulfilling the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The partnership is no doubt going to unleash the power of unity for a better experience for the Ginger farmers in the country,” NGAN President explained.
Daudu therefore called on other partners to be committed and show maximum cooperation for the success of the partnership.
