Kaduna CP Charges Youth On Importance of Sports for Societal Development

Commissioner of Police, Kaduna state Command, CP Musa Yusuf Garba has charged youth on the importance of sports for societal development.

CP Garba made the charge during the final of a maiden football tournament tagged: ‘Mando Champions League” while receiving the award of honour on Thursday.

According to the CP, football is not only recreational, but also a business activity, that youth should engage in it while they should equally pay more attention to education.

While addressing newsmen, Councilor of Mando Afaka Ward in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state, Honourable Auwal Sani Muhammad, said the tournament is a yearly event that brings youth from different ethnic groups and religious beliefs in the ward together.

He noted that sporting activities especially football serves as a potent tool for peace-building in a multicultural-religious environment like Mando Afaka ward, and called on Kaduna residents to live in peace with one another to move the state forward.

Muhammad who is also the Chairman of Councilors’ Forum, Kaduna state chapter, explained that Mando Afaka is a Mini-Nigeria.  “It is a Ward made up of people from different ethnic groups and religious beliefs, yet living together in peace with one another. So, football is serving as our symbol of peace,” he said.

Meanwhile, at the conclusion of the tournament, All Stars Professional FC emerged as the winner on a two to nil against its opponent; Sharp Shooters.

According to the organiser, Sani Salisu explained that eight football teams participated in the tournament, while the best goalkeeper of the tournament goes to Idris Umar of All Stars Professional FC.

Solomon C of Unguwan Gwari FC was awarded with the prize of the highest goal scorer, having scored three goals during the tournament, while All Stars Professional was awarded with the prize of the ‘Best Team’.
