NDE trains 25 graduates on SADS in Nasarawa

National Directorate of Employment, NDE, has commenced the training of 25 graduates on Sustainable Agricultural Development Scheme, SADS, in Nasarawa state to enable them become self-reliance.

Nasarawa state NDE Coordinator, Mr. Rotgak Go’ar, who disclosed this in Lafia during an orientation exercise, noted that the training was in the areas of agricultural intervention policies and their impacts on employment generation and income generation opportunities in post- harvest handling of agricultural products.

The 5-day training according to the State NDE boss will also cover digital marketing of gricultural products, among other areas.

He explained that the training has become necessary following the discovery that some of the beneficiaries, who graduated from the earlier SADS programme and we’re given loan facility¬† did not invest the loans profitably thereby defaulting in repayment.

“The training became necessary when it was discovered that some of the trainees did not invest the loans profitably, hence defaulting in repayment”

Go’ar pointed out that, to sterm the trend of default in repayment, the department designed the post-SADS training in order to remedy their poor loan repayment status, this enhancing the beneficiaries’ capacity with knowledge of modern agricultural policies, intervention and linkages.

He commended the NDE Director-General, Mal. Nuhu Abubakar for working tirelessly and ensuring the success of all the organisation’s programmes in the state.

Also speaking the head, department of rural employment promotion, Mr. Emmanuel Ugela charged the beneficiaries to take the training serious as it will enable them enhance their income for self sufficiency.

He pointed out that the mainstream of the nation’s economy has been shifted to agriculture hence the huge investment by the Federal Government through the NDE in agriculture to enhance the living standard of the citizenry.
