Joseph Ikyaagba for governor of Benue state, and other Banners Surfaced at Eagles Square Saturday, October 30, 2021.
The PDP’s national convention is primarily being held to elect new members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
However, unfolding developments indicate some PDP members may have started taking advantage of the large gathering to make known their political ambitions ahead of 2023.
Banners displaying Joseph Ikyaagba for governor of Benue state, Shehu Sanu for Kaduna governor, among others, have flooded Eagles Square, the venue of the convention.
Eagle Square, the venue for the national convention of the opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is currently littered with various banners and posters of prospective political aspirants.
Some of such posters include that of Bauchi state governor, Senator Bala Mohammed; former PDP presidential candidate in the 2019 general election, Atiku Abubakar; former lawmaker, Shehu Sani; Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state; Doyin Okupe; Governor Aminu Tambuwal among many others.
While Senator Bala Mohammed, Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Kwankwaso read ‘for President’, Shehu Sani read Governor of Kaduna 2023 while Joseph Ikyaagba also read governor of Benue state 2023.
Most noticeable and appearing to be making a statement is that of Joesph Ikyaagba, whose large draped banners are widely spread across the breadth of the convention venue including the VIP area.
Also littered around the venue are banners indicating that the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki would be running for the presidency in 2023. Okupe’s banners were also found both inside and outside the arena.
One particular banner had ” Ikyaagba for Benue Governor 2023.”
PDP’s national convention got a green light from the Court of Appeal after a legal battle with the party’s suspended national chairman, Uche Secondus.
