Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, a former House of Representatives Member from 2003 to 2011 said lack of regular water supply by Nasarawa Water Board was a major set back to the people of Keffi local government area of the state.
Wadada who was also a governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressive Congress APC, and later chairman Abdulahi Sule campaign council is currently the Chairman of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN), said the governor should strengthen the capacity of the state Water Board for better service delivery.
This is just as the Senator representing Nasarawa west, Abdulahi Adamu, appealed to the governor to address the problem of water scarcity in the state.
The stakeholders made the demand at a town hall meeting in Keffi, when the governor visited the local government in continuation of his tour of local governments.
Wadada appealed to the governor to emulate the administration of Abdullahi Adamu, the first civilian governor of the state whose throughout his tenure there was regular supply of water throughout the state.
He also appealed that the state government should construct two bypasses in Keffi to decongest the town.
Wadada however commended the governor for his developmental strides in Keffi, such as the ongoing neighbourhood market, Keffi Square, schools, medical centres among others.
On his part, Senator Adamu lauded the governor for his efforts toward protecting lives and property as well as provision of infrastructures to better the welfare of the people.
But Adamu however, appealed to the governor to address the problem of water scarcity in the state.
Responding, Governor Sule said the town hall meeting was aimed at getting feedback from the people on his administration’s performance.
Sule explained that the problem of water scarcity in Keffi was due to lack of proper maintenance of the pipes from Gudi in Akwanga LGA that supplies water to Keffi.
The governor assured them that the government was working hard to repair the broken pipes to ensure regular water supply in Keffi.
He therefore lauded the people for their openness in airing out their complaints and challenges and assured that they would be looked into.
The governor, who erliar paid courtesy calls separately to the emir of Keffi, Shehu Yamusa and the first class chief of Kokona Lawrence Agi, also held a town hall meeting with the people of Kokona in Garaku, Kokona local government, where he gave account of his stewardship and also received new demands from the people, promised to work with the stakeholders in the local government at all levels to bring succour to the electorate.
Senator Abubakar Sodangi was among other dignitaries that attended the events.
