Benue State Governor, Revd Fr Hycinth Alia has confirmed the Assistant General Manager Publications of The Voice Newspaper, Mr Iorvaa Atachin as the Acting General Manager of Benue Printing and Publishing Cooperation BPPC Makurdi.
The Secretary to the Benue State Government, Prof. Joseph Alakali during visit to the Corporation on Friday, said the appointment is in line with Governor Alia’s directive that all dissolved heads in all parastatals should hand over to the most senior.
The SSG went round the company’s environment and assessed the equipments and also interacted with the management and staff of Benue Printing and The Voice.
He informed the management and staff of the Cooperation that the company was a priority to the Benue State Governor.
He said: “Government is interested in what is happening here and how to generate revenue for the state”.
The Benue Chief Scribe maintained that the assessment tour was to ascertain the challenges of the organization and how best the Alia administration can approach the issues for effective and optimal result.
In their comments, the chairman of the National Union of Printing Publishing and Paper Products Workers (NUPPPROW), Mr Moses Akawe and the Financial Secretary of Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ, Faith Igbudu all lamented the poor working condition of the Cooperation and called on government to look into their plight.
