President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday received briefings from service chiefs on their ongoing operations across the country.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, comes less than 72 hours before the September 6, 2023 date fixed by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) to deliver judgment on the petitions filed by the presidential flag bearers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) against INEC, President Tinubu, and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC),

In attendance at the second regular routine national security council meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja were Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-General Taoreed Lagbaja; Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, and Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.

Presidency insiders hinted that the meeting focused on the general security situation in the country, particularly looking at areas that the Service Chiefs are expected to double efforts at addressing certain untoward developments.
