As fans gear up for an exciting time in this season’s round of 16 games in the ongoing Higher Institution Football League (HiFL) coaches from the various teams have started talking tough ahead of the games.

AAUA Luminaries will battle LASU Blazers on Wednesday, July 27 at the Adekunle Ajasin University Sports Complex in Akungba by 4 pm. The contest promises to be a thrilling fixture as the two teams are very well balanced and they will both be enthused to win.

LASU Blazers played hosts in Group C games during the preliminary stage of the competition not having the best of forms as they struggled to get out of the group. They will be more hopeful for a better run of form as they engage the Luminaries from Akungba.

On the other hand, the AAUA Luminaries will have everything to play for as they will like to top their run of last season to become Champions of the HiFL 2022 league season having lost to UNIMAID Desert Warriors in the finals of the 2021 season. They will like to start on a good flight by winning their first leg game on their home ground against the Lasu Blazers of the Lagos State University.

Head Coach Abuo Joseph of AAUA Luminaries maintained that his team “has shown constant improvement with every passing game, and with the spotlight on us this season to see how far we go, we are more motivated than ever to bring our A game and go ahead to make a statement in this round of 16 games”.

He added “I have watched the tapes and seen their pattern of play, they are clever on the attack, but with my team, it will be difficult to score. From our strategy and quality at the back, it will be a mountain to climb for any team wanting to score against us in the competition”.

Meanwhile, Coach of LASU Blazers, Coach Bamidel Omosaye, is optimistic that his team can cause an upset above all odds during the round of 16 games with the Luminaries having gone back to the drawing board to make the necessary changes needed, particularly ensuring that the team players take their chance and excel.

In other fixtures for the week, UNN Lions will host the Uniport Sharks of the University of Port-Harcourt in Enugu, Futminna Transformers will tackle KSU Steelers from Kogi State University in Minna while defending champions UNIMAID Desert Warriors will host BUK Stallions who are looking to go past this stage for the first time in the league.

HiFL organized by Pace Sports and supported by StanbicIBTC, Bold, Lagos Internal Revenue Services and Indomie Noodles is in its fourth active season.
