Kylian Mbappe has agreed to join Real Madrid when his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires this summer according to French transfer market expert Santi Aouna via Footmercato.

Mbappe extended his deal with the Qatari-backed Ligue 1 outfit in 2022 when famously ditching Madrid at the altar.

Though he was paraded at the Parc des Princes with an ‘Mbappe 2025’ jersey following the renewal, an extra year was optional meaning that the Russia 2018 World Cup winner has been free to negotiate with potential suitors since January 1.

On January 4, Mbappe said that he still hadn’t made a decision on his future but was “very, very motivated for this year”.

“It’s very important. As I said, we’ve got titles to go after and we’ve already taken one. After that, I haven’t made up my mind yet. I haven’t made a choice,” Mbappe added.

“With the agreement I made with the President last summer, whatever my decision, we managed to protect all parties and preserve the club’s serenity for the challenges ahead, which remains the most important thing. So let’s say it’s secondary.”

Earlier on Sunday, The Times in England reported that Mbappe had turned down an approach from Madrid after being unimpressed with their offer and would now listen to Premier League clubs.

According to Footmercato and Aouana, however, who is a highly-respected source of transfer news in his homeland, Mbappe will become a Real Madrid player in July after reaching an agreement with the La Liga giants “a few days ago”.
