Liverpool Beat Manchester City to Progress to FA Cup Final

Premier League race gets hotter, Liverpool 3 points behind Manchester City

The victory means Liverpool with 60 points are just three points behind Manchester City, who top the Premier League table with 63 points.

Liverpool book their first FA Cup final spot in a decade with victory over Man City in another absorbing clash between the two rivals… with a Konate header and a brace from Mane proving enough – despite City ALMOST sealing a dramatic comeback

Jurgen Klopp’s men stormed into a three-goal lead by the interval, with Ibrahima Konate heading in the opener after nine minutes and Sadio Mane pouncing on City goalkeeper Zack Steffen to make it 2-0 eight minutes later.

Mane then added his second and Liverpool’s third on the stroke of half time, and despite goals from Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva after the interval the English champions were unable to mount a comeback.

City were much improved after the break, but they gave themselves a mountain to climb in the second half after falling apart in the first.

Liverpool started like a house on fire and blitzed their way into a three-goal lead, and while Guardiola’s men came close to a comeback in the end it was too little too late.

The Reds will therefore face either Chelsea or Crystal Palace next month in their first FA Cup final since 2012.
