Manchester City have agree to pay more for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes in return for a more favourable payment schedule.
Man City reached a verbal agreement with Wolves on Wednesday for £47million, but the two clubs have now reached a final agreement worth £53m, or €62m. The Blues agreed to pay more for the Portugal international as the schedule of payments works better for them.
Nunes will now undergo a medical at Man City ahead of completing the transfer, which must be done before Friday’s 11pm deadline. Midfielder Tommy Doyle will head to Molineux for a medical in a separate season-long loan deal.
Doyle will join Wolves on a temporary basis with a £5m option to buy next summer. If Wolves trigger that option, Man City will hold a significant sell-on clause for a future sale.
Assuming Man City complete the signing of Nunes, he will join Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol and Jeremy Doku through the door this summer, taking the club’s summer spending over £200m.
Cole Palmer is expected to join Chelsea for around £45m before the transfer window closes, with no direct replacement expected to be sought after the £55m signing of Doku last week.
Man City have sold around £100m of talent this summer, including money earned from sell-on clauses from past sales, and Palmer would take the incomings to over £150m.
