Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has named the price-tag he placed on Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, warning Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to stay clear from the player.
Osimhen is in negotiations to extend his contract and so far the Partenopei are resisting the idea of a release clause.
“The only club that can afford to take Osimhen away from us is Paris Saint-Germain,” De Laurentiis told Sport Mediaset.
“So if Nasser Al-Khelaifi wants to take out 200 or so, then we will wait and evaluate.”
It is reported no clubs have been prepared to go over €100m so far, especially a concern because the asking price was believed to be in the region of €150m.
This evening, De Laurentiis revealed it is even higher than that and this is why he is confident the Nigeria international will remain this season.
The €200m price-tag would make Osimhen one of the most expensive signings of all time, but would be one of the options if Kylian Mbappe were to leave.
Still only 24 years of age, the Nigerian was Capocannoniere last term with 26 goals in 32 Serie A appearances and helped Napoli win their first title in 33 years.
The Serie A champions have already lost two key figures from their 2022/23 Scudetto win, with manager Luciano Spalletti departing while center-back Kim Min-jae is on the brink of joining Bayern Munich.
However, Osimhen will enter the final year of his contract next summer and while the Italian heavyweights are trying to extend his deal, this could be the summer to cash in big on the former Lille attacker.
Regardless, PSG are yet to show any interest in matching Napoli’s valuation. As a result, a Diego Armando Maradona Stadium stay appears to be the likely outcome for Victor this upcoming season.
