Napoli coach Rudi Garcia has assured fans that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen wants to stay at the club, ruling out speculations of any possible sale.

The future of the Osimhen has been subjects of discussion in the transfer following interest from top European clubs with Bayern Munich, PSG, Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Chelsea all in race to sign the Super Eagles goal poacher.

The 24-year-old is one of the most proficient strikers in Europe at the moment having helped Napoli to win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years, scoring 26 goals in 32 games in the Serie A.

Italian champions are reluctant to sell the Nigerian forward and have placed a heavy price tag of €180m on him to scare his suitors away.

Napoli have started their pre-season training camp in Dimaro towards the 2023/24 season, which kicks off next month.

But Osimhen is yet to resume for pre-season activities as he has been given an extended holiday.

Napoli have been a little quiet in the early stages of the summer transfer window, having lost sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli to Juventus. Kim Min-Jae is on the verge of being sold to Bayern Munich but other stars like Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are not expected to leave.

Speaking in a press conference via TMW, Garcia said:

“Of course I have spoken to Osimhen. I can assure you that he wants to stay,” Garcia said.

“Osimhen is happy to be with us and still wants to do great things at Napoli.”
