Tobi Amusan has pocked $100,000 for setting a new World record in the women’s 100m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America.
Tobi Amusan won the final in a record time of 12.06s betting the 12.12s she ran in the semis. The time was later ruled ineligible as the wind speed exceeded the legal limit.
Tobi Amusan who is the current Commonwealth Champion beat Jamaica’s Britany Anderson who finished second and Olympic Champion from Cuba, and Jasmine Camacho-Quinn who came third.
The World Athletics on its Twitter handles congratulated Amusan for her historic feat: “Continuing to put our pledges towards greater gender equality into practice. #WeGrowAthletics by proudly funding the women’s world record programme at #WorldAthleticsChamps.”
