United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) has notified the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public that its Board of Directors approved the bank’s audited financial statements for the half-year ended June 30, 2026, during its board meeting on August 13, 2026.
However, the formal publication of the results remains subject to the primary regulator’s (CBN) mandatory review and sign-off. Consequently, UBA requested and received an extension of time from the NGX, extending the filing deadline to on or before September 30, 2026.
Market Implications & Insider Trading Lockout
-
Regulatory Review Requirement: Under Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations, Commercial Banks—particularly Systemically Important Banks (SIBs) with pan-African operations like UBA—must obtain final approval from the banking regulator before releasing audited half-year and full-year financial accounts.
-
Closed Period Extension: UBA reminded directors, key management personnel, and insiders that the previously declared Closed Period remains active. Authorized persons are prohibited from dealing in UBA securities until 24 hours after the audited results are officially released on the NGX platform.
