Stanbic IBTC Bank customers have continued to groan as its mobile Banking Super App continues to disappoint with major down times due to crashes and failures.
A Stanbic customer with the username @Cali_DreamsXO on Twitter said:
“In my personal experience @StanbicIBTC is one of the most incompetent new generation banks. You can’t provide an essential service and ther’s some customer service nightmare every other day. At some point you have to admit your services are trash. By the way their App is down…AGAIN.”
The new Application which Stanbic calls a ‘Super App’ was marketed heavily to customers who were told to download the new app.
“Visit the Android or the iOS app stores to download or upgrade to the new Stanbic IBTC mobile app today,” Stanbic said in emails to customers seen by MoneyCentral.
It seems customers were drawn to the App which has been downloaded over 500,000 times on Google play store, however numerous complaints soon followed.
Another customer Semper Fi with the Twitter handle @t_nemi in a negative review of the new App on Twitter said: “Since yesterday till now @StanbicIBTC I haven’t been able to log into your mobile app. I have important pending transactions. If it’s to beg people to open account, it will be done swiftly.”
Stanbic IBTC in recognition of the problem which is not a new one as documented by MoneyCentral last year, sent out messages to clients seen by MoneyCentral which said:
“Dear Customer, if you have experienced any challenge while using our Mobile App or Internet Banking for transactions, please be assured this is receiving attention and will be resolved as soon as possible.”
It remains to be seen if this is just the most recent of a long line of messages from Stanbic trying to paper over the cracks in its ill-designed and crash prone mobile App, or if the Tier-2 bank will fix the bugs in its App once and for all. So its customers can bank with ease.
