…revenue crosses N1trn mark

BUA Cement Plc has demonstrated better margin resilience on the back of diverse and flexible energy strategies as earnings growth was driven by price and volume increases.

Of course, diversification of the energy mix continues to drive revenue and cost synergies across revenue and margin lines.

One of the largest companies by market capitalisation and second largest producer of the building material in Africa’s most populous nation saw profit after tax (PAT) spike by 59.76 percent to N463.09 billion as at September 2026 from N289.85 billion as at September 2025.

BUA Cement’s earnings before interest taxation amortization, and depreciation (EBITDA) margin increased by 42 percent to N571.53 billion in September 2026 from N402.50 billion as at September 2025.

Sales were up 26.46 percent to N1.08 trillion in the period under review from N858.73 billion as at September 2025.

The cement maker and big manufacturers have relied on price increases to fend off spiraling costs of production as they pass on such costs to the final consumers whose purchasing power has been weakened by rising utility bills.

Consumer spending has been further undermined by the removal of subsidies on fuel that skyrocketed transportation fares and food in countries where over 50 percent of a population of 100 million live on less than $1.80 a day.

The gradual recovery in real estate investment as well as relative stability in the foreign exchange market combined with receding interest expense added strength to earnings growth.

The cement maker’s EBITDA margin increased to 52.60 percent in September 2026 from 46.90 percent as at September 2025.

Gross profit margin rose to 57.10 percent in the period under review from 50.10 percent as at September 2025.

Net margin or PAT margin increased to 42.60 percent in September 2026 from 33.80 percent as at September 2025.

BUA Cement investment in gas plants across its factory and roll out of latest technology to bolster efficiency is largely responsible for margin recovery as the company continues to deliver returns to shareholders.
