HBM Nigeria PLC (NGX: Premium Board), a subsidiary of global building materials producer Huaxin Building Materials Group Co., Ltd, reported a 30.9% year-on-year rise in Profit After Tax (PAT) to ₦271.99 billion for the nine-month (9M) period ended September 30, 2026.
Top-line growth was supported by strong commercial volume execution and distribution efficiencies, driving net sales up 18.9% YoY to ₦928.25 billion.
Operational discipline pushed the company’s operating profit margin up 300 basis points to 41.2% (from 38.2% in 9M 2025), yielding an operating profit of ₦382.68 billion.
However, performance in the third quarter (Q3 2026) slowed due to scheduled annual maintenance across its production lines designed to remove operational bottlenecks.
Consequently, Q3 net sales dipped 5.2% QoQ/YoY to ₦249.84 billion, while Q3 net income fell 15.3% to ₦63.64 billion.
Management emphasized that the maintenance downtime strengthens operational reliability heading into the fourth-quarter peak demand cycle.
To support long-term volume growth, HBM Nigeria is advancing 5.5 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) in brownfield expansions across Ogun and Gombe states targeted for Q1 2027 completion, alongside initial engineering work for a new 3MTPA integrated line in Calabar.
