Nigeria’s PH Refinery Commences Operations After Mechanical Completion

Nigeria’s 60,000 barrels per day (bpd)old Port Harcourt Refinery has commenced production after the mechanical completion of its long running turn around maintenance and subsequent flare up.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Petroleum Oil Senator Heineken Lokpobiri in Port Harcourt at the 15th steering committee meeting on rehabilitation of the refinery.

“We have met the deadline on completion of phase 1 of PH Refinery and the mechanical completion and flare started on December 21, 2023,” Lokpobiri said.

“Production of Petroleum products will begin after the Christmas break, ” he added.

Sources tell MoneyCentral that the refinery output is currently at 40,000 bpd as it is expected to ramp up in the new year.

There were more than 9.6 million manhours achieved without injury during the work phase of the rehabilitation.
