NMA Urges Kaduna Govt. to Commence Payment of CONMESS

…says 100% CONMESS payment for 2014 too slow

Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), has called on the Kaduna state government to immediately commence the payment of the approved reviewed Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) with their arrears for medical doctors and dentists.

This is just as the Kaduna state Branch of NMA noted that the progress towards payment of 100% 2014 CONMESS salary to members is too slow.

The state Chairman of the Association, Dr Madaki David Sheyin, disclosed this while addressing a press conference to mark the 2023 ‘Physicians Week’ in Kaduna Monday.

At the press conference, Sheyin also expressed displeasure over the recent media trial of some healthcare workers by the Minister of Women Affairs.

He however, requested that the rule of law be observed If anyone has any case against a doctor practicing in Nigeria.

According to Sheyin, “we will not hesitate to chastise our members and continually urge them to uphold the utmost professionalism, support the association in ridding it of all forms of quackery.

“We have embarked on a massive awareness campaign and sensitization on the activities of quacks and practice of quackery in the State.”

While speaking, the Chairman of the Association further explained that the theme of this year’s Physicians’ Week; ‘Elevating Healthcare Excellence: Fighting Medical Quackery and Reinforcing Professional Standards’ was chosen to provide positive direction to the new administration, as it relates to fixing the healthcare sector.
