The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, commissioned a new Protocol Lounge at the Chinua Achebe International Airport in Umueri, Anambra.
This development is being hailed as a major boost to the state’s aviation infrastructure, which Soludo views as a critical pillar for achieving his administration’s economic development agenda.
The lounge is intended to provide a secure, comfortable, and efficient space for visiting dignitaries, government officials, business leaders, and Very Important Personalities (VIPs).
Soludo, while performing the commissioning, described it as a bold move to enhance Anambra State’s aviation landscape, adding that it is part of a multi-phased plan to upgrade facilities, streamline passenger experience, and attract both regional and international air traffic.
He said, “Today, I commissioned the brand new Protocol Lounge at the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to provide world-class services to our distinguished guests and dignitaries visiting Anambra State.
“As we continue to build a prosperous and livable homeland, we are committed to ensuring that our infrastructure and services meet the highest standards.
“By upgrading our airport infrastructure and delivering a world-class Protocol Lounge, we are not only improving passenger experience, but also signalling to investors that Anambra is open for business. This is about jobs, growth, and sustainable development for our people.
