The UK government has arrested and charged three Bulgarian nationals over allegations they have been spying for Russian government.

The trio were held in February and have remained custardy ever since as part of a major national security operation in the UK.

They have been charged for the possession of identity documents including passports the UK says were held with “improper intention”.

Those ID documents spanned countries including the UK, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, and the Czech Republic.

Met Police Counter Terrorism detectives made the arrests under the Official Secrets Act, with the three suspects having now been named.

Orlin Roussev, 45, of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, Bizer Dzhambazov, 41, of Harrow, north-west London and Katrin Ivanova, 31, of the same address as Dzhambazov.

All three have been in the UK for some time, although Mr Roussev has a history of dealing with Russia, the BBC reports.
