Foundation Advocates Accountability In Funding For Reproductive Health Care Program

Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) under the aegies of Theodora Anavhe Adamu Foundation; TAAF, has advocated for more accountability in funding for reproductive health care programs for women in conflict context in Nigeria.

The foundation has equally called for synergy and coordination by the government, international organizations, United Nations and Civil Society Organisations to end the menance of women in conflict in the country.

However, the call for synergy among stakeholders; accountability in funding, as well as review in policies protecting and promoting women’s reproductive health rights in conflict were reached during a stakeholders consultative meeting organized by the foundation.

At the stakeholders meeting held in Abuja at the weekend questions were raised which among are: what policies are in place to safeguard women’s reproductive health rights in conflict?

Other questions emanated from the meeting include that, are there even policies in the first place and if there are how effective are they, and how do these policies affect service delivery to women in conflict and host communities and IDP camps in the country.

Meanwhile during the meeting, stakeholders in attendance gave their support to the AGRIC project.

While at the meeting, the stakeholders also agreed that in recent times, Nigeria has experienced conflicts from its six geopolitical zones, just as they said that at the center of every conflict, women and children are mostly affected; ranging from rape to abuse, living them women to face a lot of reproductive healthcare challenges.
