A northern group under the aegis of Arewa Solidarity Group (ASG), has lauded the initiative of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq over the inauguration of the White Paper Committee to address hijab crisis in Kwara state.

The group tasked the Committee to be more proactive in the discharge of its responsibility.

This was contained in a statement signed by the group’s Chairman, Isa Ahmed and made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

In the statement, the group explained that it is evident that the Governor is a true lover of the Kwarans, adding that the choice of the Committee members being Chaired by Amuda Kannike SAN, a professor in law is an indication that the issue will be addressed accordingly.

Ahmed enjoyed other members of the Committee which include: Barrister Joseph Sunday Bamigboye SAN; Dr. Haruna Baba Gogata; Mrs. F.O. Titiloye; Dr. Saadat Yetunde Yusuf; and a senior civil servant Mr. Amos Thompson (Secretary) to work collectively in the interest of the state.

While also calling on Kwarans to always tolerate one another especially on the issue relating to religion, just as the group added that dispute, crisis and any other form of misunderstanding will lead the state to no progress.

The Committee, according to the Governor, was mandated to examine and make actionable recommendations to the state government on the report of the panel that had investigated the development in the school over Muslim headwear (hijab).
