The senator representing Benue North West senatorial district at the upper chambers of the national assembly, Rt. Honorable Emmanuel Yisa Orker Jev has said that the issue of 2023 will never pose a problem between him and Governor Samuel Ortom.
Senator Jev also disclosed that he was also not at loggerhead with Minister of Special Duties and International Affairs, senator George Akume.
“I have a lot of respect for him even though I contested for the Senate seat against him on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2019 and won.”
Senator Jev said he heeded the call by his constituents to leave the House of Representatives race and go for the 2019 senatorial seat at the time even when it was not his intention to run for it.
Jev, who said he does not believe in political ‘God fatherism’ to realize his political ambition, assured of continuous humility and respect to elders all his life.
The three times representatives of Buruku federal constituency at the lower chambers of the national assembly, noted that on the much talked about bridge at river Katsina -Ala, Buruku crossing point, he has personally mounted pressure on the federal government to construct it.
According to the federal lawmaker, he has visited on several occasions the Minister of Works over the matter, hoping that the project would one day see the light of the day.
It will be recalled that senator George Akume who had won the senate seat for three times was frustrated by the Peoples Democratic party in Benue state when they sponsored Jev who contested against him in 2019 general election and won.
Senator Jev hails from Jemgbagh axis with Akume in Benue North West is said to face an uphill task in contesting against the incumbent Governor Samuel Ortom in 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and may have to retire to his fate.
Investigation reveals that even though senator Jev has not openly declined to contest the senate seat in 2023, senator Gabriel Suswam announced at the decamping ceremony of former candidate of the All Progressives Congress Engr Terhile Utaan into the PDP that Jev had confided in him that he won’t be contesting in 2023.
Already, groups and associations have begun to mount billboards across senatorial districts in favour of Governor Samuel Ortom to go and sustain the fight against anti open grazing, prohibition and ranching law of Benue 2017 at the national assembly.
Governor Ortom is yet to declare his intention, but his body language suggests he is more than ready.
