The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the March 18, 2023 Governorship election in Kaduna State, Isa Ashiru, has declared that he did not lose the last governorship election in the state, but lost at the Supreme Court.
He maintained that the good people of Kaduna state voted for him overwhelmingly, being the preferred candidate in the March 18, 2023 election in the state.
The PDP guber candidate disclosed this during a media briefing in Kaduna on Monday, where he averred that the nation has derailed from true politics of majority carry the vote.
“As far as I’m concerned, I have not lost an election. The good people of Kaduna State voted for me but we had hiccups along the road.
“That was why we took the judicial process to make sure we got our mandate back. But as God would have it, He has done His own way and I accepted it in good faith. It is unfortunate that we have derailed from true politics,” Ashiru said.
Ashiru who is a former lawmaker further explained that despite the Supreme court judgement, he is not going to quit politics.
While wishing the Governor Uba Sani well in piloting the affairs of the state, Ashiru however, called on his supporters to take the outcome of the Supreme Court judgment in good fate and move on, just as he urged them to be law-abiding and co-habit peacefully with other citizens in respect of their political leanings.
“We took the judicial process to make sure we got our mandate back, but now that the judgement has gone this way, we have to move on.
“I just left the party’s secretariat where I met with stakeholders and I urged them to be law-abiding and to let’s continue, because we are in politics not for ourselves but for the people.
“Now that this has happened, we will not be deterred. We still have a by-election on February 3, 2024 and we urged all our supporters to come out and vote,” Ashiru urged.
