An expert in the tourism sector, Dr. Tobi Bernard Thomas has said that the solution to the improved tourism sector in Kaduna state is public-private partnerships” (PPPs).

The expert reiterated the need for synergy between the government and the private sector for an improved tourism sector, which according to him would boost the economic activities of the state.

Dr. Thomas stated this in a congratulatory message on the victory of the Kaduna state governor, Mallam Uba Sani at the Supreme court.

According to the expert, he urged the governor to make Kaduna state, a centre of tourism attraction in the country, considering the potential of the state to drive the state’s economy through tourism.

In his words: ” With partnership, the public sector (government) provides infrastructures, makes positive and development oriented laws, and with proper funding, the two sectors can promote tourism through collaboration.”

On the public private partnership model in tourism, the expert further explained that through relationships termed “public-private partnerships” (PPPs), private entities and NGOs contribute financing, management expertise, technology, and other resources which can support the development of sustainable tourism.

“In addition to generating profits, the private sector provides employment opportunities, delivers specific goods and services, helps develop industries or technologies, enables the functioning of a diverse group of businesses, and adds to the national income,” he stated.

Dr. Thomas also opined that with the help of tax rebate incentives for the investors, the tourism sector in the state can get better.
