Armed gang suspected to be phone snatchers have stabbed to death a 200-Level student of the Federal University Wukari, in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The deceased, identified as Mark Sagarga Nuvalga Gargae of the Department of Biological Science, Federal University Wukari is son of the Head Pastor of CRCN Centre Church in Jalingo.
Sources told our correspondent that the incident occurred on Thursday night, when the victim was returning home after night reading in the school
One of the sources, a student in the university said; “ I saw him in the class when he was reading, but I left the night class before him. It was this morning that the news broke out that some boys tried to snatch his phone, he was struggling with them and they stabbed him”.
“The deceased was staying off-campus in a lodge not too far from the institution; he went to see some of his friends at an estate at the late hours of Thursday and was attacked by hoodlums not too far from the gate of his lodge while returning in the early hours of Friday
“After going out with his friends, he decided to come back, his friends discouraged him and asked him to sleep over but he declined.
“On his way back, he was attacked by phone snatchers and they killed him and took his phone”. Another source narrated.
He added that during the ensuing fight, one of the hoodlums stabbed Mark on the stomach, his shout and scream prompted students around to scamper for safety, leaving the deceased in the pool of his blood.”
Meanwhile, several effort made by our reporter to hear from the spoke man of the university proved abortive just as the Police Public Relation Officer Usman Abdullahi could not pick his calls or reply text messages, sent to his phone at the time of writing this report
