National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Iyorchia Ayu has decried the death of Journalists in Benue state in quick succession in recent times.

He said loosing a cream of Journalists in almost a roll like Emmanuel Yawe, Terna Doki, John Chiahemen and Joseph Wantu is most worrisome to him and the society.

The PDP national chairman who spoke through Hus Media Aide, Comrade Simon Imobo Tswam during a condolence visit to the family of late Joseph Wantu in Makurdi on Saturday, he extends his condolences to both the family, correspondents chapel and the entire Benue council.

Doctor Ayu remembers Wantu as a conscious Journalist who stand by The Guardian’s tradition of stability, fairness, balance and accuracy in the course of reportage even in the course of high rate of fake news trending on.

He described Journalists as a beacon of the society in informing, educating and in some cases entertaining readers; praying that whatever is affecting Journalists negatively, God will reverse the trend.

It will be recalled that Wantu died at public hospital in Makurdi last Tuesday morning after battling with ailments since last November.

Until his death, Wantu worked with Leadership newspaper and The Guardian correspondent in Benue state for about seven years.
