Fr Alia Remains Governorship Candidate In Benue – APC

Benue state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says it read a fake, malicious and concocted report on Social Media which was designed to call to question the transparent, free and fair Governorship Primary Election recently conducted by the party in which, Revd Fr Hyacinth Iormem Alia won.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC), on the 26/5/ 2022 conducted its governorship primary election to produce a candidate for the 2023 General election using the direct method of election. The election conducted in all the 276 wards in Benue state produced Revd. Fr. Hyacinth Alia who scored the highest number of votes and was returned winner”.

In a statement in Makurdi, the State Publicity Secretary, Dan Morgan, made it clear that
the purported report was fake and have no substance; noting that an appeal panel by a political party lacks the powers to cancel any primary election.

“The election that produced the candidature of Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia is valid and reflects the wishes of majority of APC members across Benue State. Fr. Alia remains the flag bearer of our party in Benue State and poised to take victory from the weaken and perforated Umbrella Party in 2023”.

The State Publicity Secretary, therefore, advised the teeming members and supporters across the state to disregard the information and continue to support and have faith in the APC.

“Benue APC want to make it abundantly clear that Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has been chosen by the majority of APC members and no amount of blackmail, lies and cooked up propaganda against his candidacy will see the light of day”.

“APC is more than ready to take back Benue and to bring development to the state which has suffered the worst mal-administration since it’s creation in 1976. The APC through Fr Alia will wipe away the pains of non payment of salaries and pension, create jobs and employment, provide critical infrastructure and return Benue state to the path of growth and development”.

“Those who have stolen our commonwealth, brought hunger, pain and sadness to our people should know that the day of reckoning is near. Their smear campaign, mudslinging and campaign of calumny won’t stop the tsunami that is about to consume them at the polls next year”. The statement added.

It will be recalled that Governor Samuel Ortom at a reception for PDP candidates held in Gboko on Sunday, said Fr Alia is not a candidate in the 2023 election in the state under APC platform; alleging he is not a member of the party.

According to him, the certified APC membership register from Vandeikya local area as obtained from INEC indicates that Fr Alia’s name was not found in it.
