N5B Palliatives: APC Chieftain Cautions Governors Against Diversion

A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Kailani Muhammad, has cautioned the 36 state Governors against diverting the two billion naira giving to each state of the federation which was meant to cushing the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

The Chieftain urged the Governors to ensure that the funds are used accordingly for social and economic growth in the interest of the masses.

He made the call during a Press Conference in Kaduna at the weekend, where he further warned that the effort of president Bola Tinubu should not be jeopardized by the Governors.

Though, he said that the economic hardship that the citizens of the country are going through can not just be solved by mere palliatives, adding that the institutional framework that the nation rests on to function has failed.

On his part, while fielding questions from journalists during the press conference, the Director General one nation Asiwaju/Shettima support group Muhammadu Dagachi, however, explained that using the funds judiciously
lies on whether Nigerians conduct themselves well or not.

” Nigerians promote leaders to do the wrong thing because of their demand, if you do not have a massive morality, the conduct of ordinary Nigerians will drag you off road like it has done to so many leaders. No matter how sincere you want to be, if you are not a principled leader, you will end up losing,” he said.

While speaking, Dagachi further explained that the funds are loan, which according to him will be deducted within 24 months. “I am sure, no reasonable Governor will divert these palliatives,” he said.

Meanwhile, the duo, in their remarks during the conference explained that the government is working hard to ensuring that the nation’s economy improved, just as they said that the palliatives are meant for a short period of time.

“If we want honest leaders, we the masses must also show honesty in all our doings,” Kilani said.
