PDP Others Merge to Fight APC In Nasarawa LG polls

Ahead of the October 6 local government’s Chairmanship and Councillorship elections in Nasarawa state, the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Karu Local Government Area has entered into merger agreement with four political parties namely the all Progressives Grand-Alliance (APGA) the Social Democratic Party (SDP) African Democratic congress (ADC) and the Young People’s Party (YPP) to enhance its chances of winning the elections.

Speaking during the ceremony at the Tutum motel in Karu recently, the Chairmanship candidates of the party Engineer Kefas Danlami kaura described the development as a great booster and good omen in their struggle towards wrestling power with the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Engr. Kaura who expressed the optimism that with such merger or development, the PDP would give the ruling party the good run for its money and at the end emerge victorious given remarkable support and enthusiasm demonstrated by those that came to merge with them as well as their teeming supporters on ground in all over the local government area.

“In fact the merger is an indication that we are really on track toward victory especially with the zeal and determination demonstrated by those that came to merge with us,” they stressed emphatically.

He commended them for their foresight and determination and assured that he is going to run on all inclusive administration whereby all people would be carried along in the scheme of things as well as strive to address the infrastructural challenges and the provision of social amenities together with adequate security to the people if elected.

He then expressed his gratitude to the party Elders and stakeholders in the area for providing the platform which enabled them to have the merger and pledged not to disappoint anyone at the end of the day.

In his remarks a one time chairman of karu local government Hon. Andrew Chidawa Bahago described the development as a sign of victory to the party in the area especially that it has presented credible candidates for the election in which the people of the area would elect them confidently giving their track records and pedigree.

While commending the various parties that came forward for the merger, he urged them to work hand in hand with the PDP members and also mobilize their members to come out en-masse to vote so that they would be able to win and form the government in the forthcoming election.

Contributing, a former commissioner in the former Umaru Tanko Almakura led administration Mr.Angama Weibey also expressed delight over the merger as that would pave ways for the party to win the forthcoming local government elections in the area and form the next council that would develop the area with a human face and all-embracing appropriate to all issues.

He however suggested that in the areas of council elections the most popular and accepted person should be allowed to bear the party’s ticket so as to enable them win the highest majority of seats in the council.

Speaking separately, chairman of various political parties that came up for the merger have expressed their commitments towards the victory for the PDP in the forthcoming elections.
