Former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, immediate past governor of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola, and Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna have been reportedly included in President Bola Tinubu ministerial list.
The Nation reports that the list was sent to Godswill Akpabio, the senate president.
David Umahi, former governor of Ebonyi; Atiku Bagudu, former governor of Kebbi; Mohammed Badaru; former governor of Jigawa; and David Edevbie, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, are included in the list sent to the senate.
Lateef Fagbemi’s nomination is in jeopardy because of his closeness to Rotimi Amaechi, immediate past minister of transportation.
The president had to send the list to the senate before Friday this week, in line with section 42(a) of the constitution which states that “the nomination of any person to the office of a Minister for confirmation by the Senate shall be done within sixty days after the date the President has taken the oath of office”.
President Tinubu was sworn in on May 29Â and is yet to constitute his cabinet.
The senate will commence its recess today and will reconvene in September.
