Osimhen To Earn $7.7m A-Year In New Napoli Deal

Following an extensive meeting between Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis and Victor Osimhen‘s agent Roberto Calenda, Napoli are reportedly willing to offer the Nigerian striker a mega annual salary of $7.7m (N6.3bn).

The new offer surpasses Osimhen’s salary of €3.5m per year, a hundred per cent increase as Napoli are prepared to keep their best player whose contract expires in the summer of 2025.

The 24-year-old Nigerian striker is one of the most sought after strikers in Europe after scoring 26 goals to fire Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.

The Nigeria international also found the net five times in the Champions League during his team’s run to the quarter-finals.

Recent reports claimed that Osimhen’s valuation has risen to a record €180 million.

Several top European clubs, including United, are interested in signing Osimhen, but Napoli chief De Laurentiis is refusing to sell him on the cheap. He wants €180million for the prolific forward, which would be a Serie A record transfer fee.

Osimhen’s existing deal expires in two years, which is why De Laurentiis met with agent Roberto Calenda to discuss a new contract. It’s believed Osimhen wants to receive a similar pay cheque to what a player of his calibre would get elsewhere.

As reported by Italian media, Tutton Napoli, De Laurentiis reiterated the club’s valuation of Osimhen, while Calenda asked for a pay rise.

“The relationship with De Laurentiis is good and therefore the meeting went ahead with great fair play.

“Napoli proposes an engagement that will have a fixed part of six million euros net and a series of bonuses that could even increase to seven.

“A remarkable effort for a club that has established an economic sustainability that does not provide for such high salaries.

At the same time, it is logical that if you evaluate Osimhen as Mbappé, perhaps the Nigerian and his agent expect a salary proposal not equal to that of the Frenchman, but which in any case is on very different levels.”

Osimhen has established himself as one of Europe’s top forwards since scoring 10 goals in seven games to inspire Nigeria to glory in the 2015 U-17 World Cup. Spells with German side Wolfsburg and Belgian outfit Charleroi followed before his breakthrough at Lille.

Osimhen scored 18 goals during his one season in France, which persuaded Napoli to make him their record signing in July 2020. It’s believed Napoli paid Lille €80m for his services, which is why they won’t sell him for a similar fee this summer.

The striker has since found the net 59 times in 101 games, with many of those goals coming last term.

At the national team, The Super Eagles striker scored 17 goals in 25 for Nigeria, including a brace in their recent win against Sierra Leone.
