President Buhari Extends Tenure Of DG SSS, Yusuf Bichi

Following his good performance in uplifting the standard of the State Security Services (SSS), particularly in intelligence gathering, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the extension of the tenure of Mr. Yusuf Bichi as Director General of the Service for another four years.

Bichi was first appointed in September 2018, following the retirement of the former Acting Director General of the DSS, Matthew Seiyefa.

It was gathered that President Buhari approved the extension of Bichi’s tenure after rejecting a number of other candidates proposed to him for appointment as Director General of the SSS.

Forefront News gathered that President Buhari wanted Bichi “to continue with the good work he is doing in intelligence gathering which has help greatly to put things in check in the nation’s security sector.

Mr. Yusuf Bichi started his career in the security division of the Cabinet Office in Kano and from there moved to the defunct Nigerian Security Organization (NSO) before it transformed into the State Security Services (SSS).

Bichi since his appointment as the Director General of the SSS, has brought about novel security intelligence gathering, made the Service become more friendly in its relations with members of the public by appointing a core professional as Head of its Public Relations thereby making the Service more accessible to the media and members of the public.

Similarly, Bichi’s tenure has witnessed improved welfare scheme of staff through provisions of quality housing accommodation, prompt payment of allowances and duty tours among others.

The Director General of the SSS attended Danbatta Secondary School, Kano State College of Advanced Studies and the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he graduated with a B.Sc in Political Science.

He is happily married with children.
